Hello and welcome!

Thanks for stoping by! That's me, and my super cute and spunky 1 year old, Nora. When we're not laying on the floor taking selfies, we also like to bake, take lots of pretty photos, and practice yoga. Aside from posting way too many pictures of Nora on instagram, I also take pretty wedding picures and make pretty baby items. So browse around, and keep up with all the latest.

Networking is one of the most important (and sometimes most difficult) aspects of being a wedding photographer. So, last year, I mustered up all of the courage I could, and I attended my very first Photographer’s conference, the Inspire Boston conference… completely alone… by my self. Yep, that’s right. If you know me at all, you know how huge of a step that was for me… little old shy and introverted me. But I met some really really awesome people at the conference, made a lot of friends, and even got to hook up with some great people this past summer to shoot with!

When Suzanna, from Suzanna March Photography, emailed me after the Inspire conference asking if I wanted to shoot a wedding with her in Ridgefield, I was psyched! She was really fun to hang out with at the conference, and I simply was blown away by her photography. She really gets it… what it really means to capture the love between her couples. You can just feel it in her work, and I was so honored that she asked me to shoot with her.

And her clients are awesome! Sheila and Stephen were possibly the cutest and most head over heels in love that I’ve had the privilege to witness. Their wedding was so much fun, and I had a blast photographing with Suz, especially when I manned the photobooth at the reception! All of the guests really got into it, and I think you can see in Suz’s part III post just how much!! Thanks so much for letting me share in their love, Suz, and thank you Sheila and Stephen for letting me help capture your story!!

Make sure you click on these three links to see Suzanna’s awesome shots from the day!!
Part I, Part II, and Part III :)

Enjoy my take on the day:

Over the summer, I had the amazing opportunity to second shoot with a bunch of really awesome local photographers who’s work I really admire. This all wouldn’t have been possible if I hadn’t have joined an amazing online community just for photographers, called the [b]school. The community there is warm, friendly, helpful, and most of all, supportive, which is so important for someone (like myself) who is just starting out along their path to a photography career. I have learned so much and have met some really great people through that community, and it is a place I will continue to be a part of because I believe that what Chris Becker has created is exactly what the photography community needs! If you’re a new or seasoned pro photographer and you haven’t checked them out, GO DO IT! It will be the best thing you ever do, I promise!

I was able to meet Kristen Schueler, of Kristen Schueler Photography, on the [b]school, and she invited me to come along with her to photograph the most sweetest and funnest couple, Morgan and Jorge, at a very intimate and insanely beautiful small wedding in Westport, CT. Head over to Kristen’s blog to see how she captured the day from the lead photographer’s point of view (and check out Morgan’s GORGEOUS shoes!!!

Jorge’s parent’s estate was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen! For real… I’m talking drool worthy bed sheets, that how damn pretty and elegant this place was. Imagine getting married there! It was a dream! Morgan and Jorge were just so sweet, and so in love. They had a small intimate ceremony in the backyard with only their closest family and friends.

Here are a few of the pics I was able to grab during the day. It was really hard to narrow down my favs, as they were just so beautiful and so fun to photograph! Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!!

Their Reception was held at Le Farm Restaurant, in Westport. It was the cutest little place with the most devine food! And the cook really took care of Kristen and me. He made sure whatever they were serving, we got a great big plate of it also! Also, notice the little favors on the table? They were packs of note cards, the picture on them? It was the estate where they got married… how cute is that!? Enjoy all of the beautiful details…

Here is part two of the Walk Through a Wedding Workshop I attended in NYC at the end of March, hosted by the fabulous Justin and Mary Marantz.

After we learned all about setting up the detail shots, we moved onto the portraits of a wedding. J&M shared some of their “go-to” shots (some fail safe poses in case you get into a posing funk), as well as their approach to taking portraits during the wedding day. We then broke into groups and practiced alllll of the techniques we learned that day. As the light was fading, we also experimented with OCF. Since the theme of this WTAW workshop was Newsies and Knickerbockers, we tried some dramatic “old Hollywood glam” type of lighting. It was definitely something new for me, and I’m looking forward to practicing more. This definitely wasn’t my typical style of shooting, but I learned a lot and I really like

Kathryn and Peter, our real life couple turned models were just too cute and so awesome that day! They smiled, posed, smiled some more, and just oozed cuteness all day long! They were such troopers and I think we all got some results that are pretty awesome!!

A little behind the scenes shot :)

Recently, my very good friend Catherine, and two of my sister’s (in law) posed for me in a very impromptu bridal shoot. The idea I had was for a very whimsical, organic shoot. A field, some wild flowers, and pops of pretty summer colors were floating through my head.

I love when I can capture in my camera exactly what I picture in my head. I often have fantastical ideas that are difficult to produce in real life. This could be because my ideas are just so disorganized and all over the place, or because I’m still figuring out how to materialize these visions in pictures, but either way its such a good feeling when it translates exactly. So I was totally psyched when I uploaded these pics. They were, well, awesome. It certainly helps that all three of these ladies are beyond gorgeous and totally camera friendly. They were also naturals in front of the camera, which makes my job soooo much easier!

A big huge thank you to my girls!! They braved the chilly late afternoon air in little dresses to help me out. They are so awesome!! If anyone wants to sign up for my next styled shoot, I have TONS of ideas, so just shoot me an email! :)

Seriously, how gorgeous are these girls!? TOO gorgeous!

Dana and Claire are tooooo cute! Love them!

A little sneak behind the scenes. These girls were troopers! Catherine climbed up on this wall, which was just about as tall as them… in a wedding dress!!!

Here is a quick sneak peek of a SUPER fun bridal portrait session I did a week ago. A big huge THANK YOU to Catherine, Claire and Dana for posing for me on a very chilly Saturday afternoon. We were totally chilled to the bone by the end of the shoot, but I think it was totally worth it! Stay tuned for the full post of gorgeous pics of these beautiful ladies to come next week!

The last few days of March were spent learning from some of my most favorite photographers in the whole wide world! Justin & Mary Marantz are an incredible husband and wife photography team who are touring the country this year, visiting various cities and speaking about what makes them… well… them! If you don’t know who they are, hop on over to their site and spend a few minutes reading their stuff. You’ll very quickly see just who they are, and you will fall in love!

They are the *kindest* most genuinely sweet people you’ll meet. All they want to do is share their story, their talents, and help people succeed. How amazing is that!?

A Walk Through a Wedding workshop with Justin and Mary is an ALL DAY intensive shooting workshop. They teach us how they approach a wedding day, from start to finish, and then they let us experiment on the canvas they’ve set up for us. They set up an amazing spread, complete with models who wear beautiful dresses and carry bouquets! And then there are the details! There is not a single stone unturned when it comes to the details of this wedding day.

Since there are just wayyyyy too many pictures to share all at once, this first post will showcase all of the amazing details from the day. Enjoy!

As I continue to research how one breaks into the business of photography, I constantly come across the same few key points. Networking, branding, building your portfolio. Which got me to thinking, how can I build my portfolio right now if I dont have much to photograph? I mean, I can only take so many photos of my cats.

I decided to grab some props and set up a “details” oriented shoot. Its quick, easy, and you dont need to bribe any guinea pigs to sit for you. Everything was shot with natural light, mostly positioned at 90 degrees to the object I was photographing to give the object a smoother overall illumination.
